"Because of atmospheric greenhouse effect during this period, the night temperatures across the Valley will rise while the day temperatures would fall due to cloudy weather conditions," the official added.

Moderate snowfall will occur in Gulmarg in north Kashmir and Pahalgam in south Kashmir .

"In Zojila Pass area of the Srinagar-Leh highway there would be moderate snowfall during this period. Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg and other higher reaches in south and north Kashmir would also receive moderate to light snowfall," Lotus said.

Foggy conditions are likely to occur in the mornings in Jammu city on Friday as well.

Intense fog affected visibility in the state's winter capital Thursday morning affecting both air and surface traffic to and from the city.

Locals said the foggy conditions were so intense that visibility fell down to just a few metres.
