Srinagar, Dec.2 (ANI): A three-day Winter Sports conclave has begun here with the objective of promoting water sports in the Kashmir Valley.
Event Manager Bilquis Mir said: "I think that our youth will get a lot of boost from these events in the coming time. I saw a lot of talent in these two days among the school children and other participants who came here. Now, the challenge lies with us as to how we can take this talent forward. This event was like the opening of water sports for us."
Junaid Ahmad, a participant, said: "These water sports should be given more weightage and importance in the state and everyone should participate in these events so that such sports get a boost. This a really lovely place to have such sports."
A number of activities, including a dragon boat race, kayaking, canoeing and water surfing, water polo, swimming, were also held.
Another participant, Maria, said: "More girls should participate in these events, water sports. Every girl should come forward and participate in such water sports, girls should not remain behind and participate more as it's a really good opportunity."
Participants said such events will give a major boost to water sports in the Kashmir Valley. (ANI)
