India vs. West Indies: Shami shines on first day, India take control

India is trailing by 197 runs after closing the first day of the first test match against West Indies. It was completely day of India which stopped the West Indies batting line up for only 234 in which Mohammad Sami from India done the splendid job for his debut test.

After wining the toss, West Indies decided to bat but the decision remains not satisfactory for the visitors. Indian bowler were in full fledge and not allowed visitor batsman to play with liberty.

India pacer Mohammed Shami picked up four for 71 as India bowled out the West Indies for 234 in the first innings shortly after tea on the first day of the first cricket Test at the Eden Gardens here on Wednesday.

From West Indies, Marlon Samuels was the top scorer with 65 while Shivnarine Chanderpaul made 36.

Besides Shami, offie Ravichandran Ashwin bagged two for 52 while Bhuvneshwar Kumar got one for 33. Sachin Tendulkar, who is playing his last test and everyone has been eyeing for him. He bowled Shillingford by lbw in his spell.

Indian batsman perform well on crease and make 37 for no loss in the first innings at the close of play on the first day of their first cricket Test.

Shikhar Dhawan was batting on 21 and Murali Vijay 16. India are trailing by 197 runs.
