Border Security Force, which is mandated to guard India’s Border, have been taking active part in sports activity since its inception. It has produced a number of renowned sports persons, who had shown time to time their worth during SAF/ Common Wealth Games, Asian Games and Olympics. In turn the country has recognised their talents and rewarded them Padma Shri and Arjun Awards. In order to select budding talents, Border Security Force has been given the honour to organise BSF Inter Frontier Lawn Tennis Competition w.e.f. 28th to 01st Nov’ 2013.
According to BSF sources, the final match of 10th Border Security Force Inter Frontier Lawn Tennis Championship-2013 was played between Ftr HQ Gujarat & Ftr HQ Rajasthan at Famous International Stadium R K Khanna Stadium, R K Puram, New Delhi in which Rajasthan Frontier won the tournament.
In this competition 12 teams participated that are Kashmir Ftr, Jammu Ftr, Punjab Ftr, Gujarat Ftr, Rajasthan Ftr, South Bengal Ftr, North Bengal Ftr, Meghalaya Ftr, M & C Ftr, Tripura Ftr, CSWT Indore and Academy Tekanpur.
The competition is conducted in 3 categories i.e team championship, open and veteran. Total 52 participants participated in this championship. In open 32 players participated and in veteran categories 8 players participated.
Participants securing 1st and 2nd position were conferred with Gold and Silver medals. Team championship awarded on the basis of overall points secured by the team in open singles and open doubles. Winner & Runner were bestowed with winner & runner trophies.
Subhash Joshi, DG BSF, graced the occasion as a Chief Guest. A colourful function is organised to honour the Chief Guest. During this occasion, Sh Ashok Kumar, IPS, Inspector General Chairman of organising committee delivered the vote of thanks to all the dignitary/participants.
He also distributed the medals & trophy to the winner and runner teams. He addressed the players and lauded their efforts and motivated them to excel in the game and he congratulated the winner for the sportsmanship and excellence.
