Sydney, Nov 30 (ANI): Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has backed fiery pace spearhead Mitchell Johnson as arguably the most frightening paceman of his time.
However, News.com.au reports that Johnson has more than the fear factor going for him as he is already threatening to take down England's James Anderson as the top Ashes bowler following his bowling attack at the Gabba.
Ponting, who was proved right after backing Johnson to fire in the lead up to the series with a match-winning nine-wicket haul and half century, said that Johnson showed his brilliance in the one-day series against England and India, adding that he is also bowling over 150km/h and his control is the best it has ever been.
Stating that Johnson's pace and hostility is increasing with age, Ponting also said that England does not like facing Johnson as he has bowled some spells that are as good as he has seen in the game, adding that Johnson is an example of someone who is right on top of their game.
Ponting further said that he had played with Johnson for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last season, adding that Johnson bowled beautifully with the new ball. (ANI)
