Sikar (Rajasthan), Nov.27 (ANI): UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday lauded the Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan Government for fully utilizing the funds allocated to it by the Central Government for the development of the state.

Rajasthan is counted among developing states due to the schemes introduced by the Congress Government, she added.

"Today, Rajasthan is among states that are developing and it is because of Congress party's programmes. The funds allocated by the Centre were fully utilized by Ashok Gehlot Government, and it definitely has brought a positive change in the lives of the people," she said while addressing a rally here in the poll-bound state.

She also highlighted various flagship schemes of the Congress-led UPA Government, and said the Government made such revolutionary programmes for the people.

"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the UPA Government made revolutionary schemes for the people. Farmers are an integral part of our country's development. But when they were in trouble we have given them the Land Acquisition Act," she said.

"We bought MNREGA, Right to Education (RTE) and many more schemes. More than 80 crore of our brothers and sisters will get food at nominal rates under Food security Act," she added.

She also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of making tall claims about development, while accusing them of misleading people.

"Opposition leaders will come to you and spread rumours about our schemes. They only talk and give empty promises. Despite our hard work, some still make fun of us. But when they come to you for votes, ask them what have they done?" she questioned.

"They only make tall claims and mislead people. You can match their contribution to the state with ours then everything will become clear," she added.

Rajasthan, which is currently governed by Congress Government, votes for a new assembly on December 1. The counting of votes will take place on December 8. (ANI)
