New Delhi, Nov.24 (ANI): UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Sunday lauded Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, and said that the state has seen a lot of development under her leadership, while highlighting a lot of schemes introduced by the Congress Government for the welfare of the people.
"Under the leadership of Sheila Dikshit, Delhi has seen a lot of development. People used to say that the Delhi metro would fail. Today, the Delhi metro is world famous. There has been a lot of development in the road infrastructure, flyovers, super specialty hospitals, government schools, and many more welfare schemes for the people," she said while addressing a rally here in the poll-bound state.
She criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for overlooking the extent of development in the state, and said that the saffron outfit are least bothered about people's welfare.
"I don't need to talk more on the development, because you all have been experiencing the benefits for a long time. Only the opposition overlooks all these development work. It doesn't matter whether the opposition accepts it or not, but the people of Delhi know about the development and accept it wholeheartedly," she said.
"But these things, the opposition won't understand whose aim is to criticize the Congress Party, and who are least bothered about the people," she added.
Delhi, which is presently under Congress' rule, will vote on December 4, and the results will be announced on December 8. (ANI)
