Washington, Sat, 23 Nov 2013 ANI

Washington, Nov. 23 (ANI): The US military has reportedly deployed four different special ops bots in its robotic fleet to execute tasks otherwise deemed difficult in the battlefield.

The special op bots have been developed by iRobot, which is pioneering the latest in military technology and has deployed over 5,000 robotic fleets to the US military, state and local law enforcement, and industries worldwide.

According to Fox News, one of the most widely used robots, the 'PacBot' served one of its first operational deployments at ground zero after 9-11.

Director of iRobot's Department of Defense robotics, Mark Balenger said that two of their robots have operated in Fukushima in Japan after the earthquake.

Balenger said that the Pacbot can go up ad down stairs, can open doors and investigate a potential bomb.

One of the latest inventions, the new compact I-10 First Look robot, is small enough to fit in a soldier's pack and is ready to serve at a moments notice and can be thrown up to 15 feet with the ability to self-right, flip itself back over, and go on its mission, the report added. (ANI)
