Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh), Nov.21 (ANI): UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of only making promises and never working towards fulfilling it.
"BJP only makes promises, does not work. There is lot of difference in saying and doing and we don't trust false assurances. The Congress Party has struggled continuously for the rights of women, poor and minorities. We also came out with the MNREGA scheme,' she said while addressing a rally here in the poll-bound state.
She said that the Congress Party started Sarv Siksha Abhiyan, but children could not avail its benefits, because of the lapses of the State government. "People in Madhya Pradesh do not have employment, and there are no teachers in schools,' she said.
She further said that the Central Government has provided several crores to the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh Government, which has not been utilized for the welfare of the people.
"Many such schemes were introduced by the UPA Government, we gave every possible financial aid, but the BJP government did not utilize any of this. Despite all this money, Madhya Pradesh continued to be in a poor state with rampant malnutrition, suicides by farmers and non-availability of seeds and fertilizers," she said.
Madhya Pradesh is going to polls on November 25, and results would be announced on December 8, along with those in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and New Delhi. (ANI)
