LG launches Delhi Chapter of 'The Heritage Guide Book'

Lt. Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung as Chief Patron of INTACH, releases The Heritage Guide Book, published by INTACH, Delhi Chapter at a special function at the Raj Niwas in the presence of Maj. Gen.(Retd.) L.K. Gupta (A.V.S.M), Chairman of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage and eminent citizens of Delhi.

Generation of content for the publication was originally funded by the World Monuments Fund's Sustainable Tourism initiative, supported by American Express. On this occasion, L.G. said that this book is very useful to know about the Heritage of Delhi, this well illustrated work has been aesthetically designed and produced to provide some interesting glimpse of some of the lesser known, as well as the better know edifices of Delhi.

Delhi : A Heritage City, 20 walks through History’ was conceptualized by Prof. A.G. Krishna Menon, Convenor of INTACH Delhi Chapter has been edited by Annabel Lopez and Swapna Liddle and designed by Alpana Khare. The map and archival images used in the book have been sourced from British Library and the Archaeological Survey of India.

The publication is the culmination of earlier versions of documentation prepared by INTACH Delhi Chapter to increase awareness amongst the public of the incredible architectural heritage of the city.

The Delhi Chapter initiated detailed documentation to elaborate the information that could be accessed while taking the identified Heritage Walks. The underlying principle of the literature produced for the Heritage Walks is to empower the visitor to absorb the history of the city at their convenience. This edition incorporates the twenty walks in a single volume.
