BJP denies role in disrupting Aam Aadmi Party news conference

New Delhi , Tue, 19 Nov 2013 ANI

New Delhi, Nov.19 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has denied any role in the disruption of a news conference of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday here.

It maybe recalled that a disgruntled activist claiming to be from the BJP had thrown ink on AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Prashant Bhushan.

Nachiketa Vaghrekar, who hails from Maharashtra, also shouted slogans in favour of veteran social activist Anna Hazare.

"I do not think there should be an answer given to the reaction of Arvind Kejriwal as this is enseless and India's main opposition, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nothing to do in this incident. We are fighting against the Congress. There has been an opposition by Anna Hazare on the funds collection by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) so this is controversy between the teacher and the student and BJP is playing no role in it," said spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.

Vaghrekar claimed that Kejriwal had betrayed his mentor Hazare and his ombudsman movement to meet his political objectives.

Meanwhile, Janata Dal (United) Party leader Ali Anwar said: "See the man threw ink at the activist politician Arvind Kejriwal, but tomorrow he could just fire at him. First of all, the people who are in public notice should be given special security, and secondly, this kind of an act is to be condemned even if it is done by the person who opposes us and to disrupt the news conference is not accepted."

The AAP is spearheading an anti-corruption movement.

Kejriwal is an uncompromising anti-corruption crusader who has tapped into a vein of urban anger over the venality of the political class after a string of breathtaking graft scandals.

The AAP has surprisingly up-ended the calculations of mainstream parties in the race for control of the capital, Delhi, which goes to the polls in December and will set the stage for a national election due by May.

AAP is contesting all 70 seats in the Delhi state legislature. (ANI)
