PM writes to Prof. Rao, praises his efforts in strengthening science infrastructure in India

New Delhi, Nov.17 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has congratulated Professor C.N.R Rao for the Bharat Ratna award.

In his message he said: "Please accept my warm congratulations for the Bharat Ratna award"

"In conferring this award on you, the nation has honoured an eminent scientist and a well-recognized international authority on solid state and materials chemistry. We salute your work not only as a scientist but also in passionately nurturing young scientists and strengthening the science infrastructure in our country," he said.

"We look forward to your continued guidance of Indian science and scientists. Please accept my best wishes for your sustained good health and happiness," he added.

Prof. C.N.R. Rao is an eminent scientist and a well-recognized international authority on solid state and materials chemistry.

He has published over 1,400 research papers and 45 books.

Prof. Rao's contributions have been recognized by most major scientific academies around the world through conferment of memberships and fellowships.

He has been honoured with several national and international awards. (ANI)
