Kanker (Chhattisgarh), Nov.7 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) prime ministerial aspirant Narendra Modi on Thursday took a jibe at UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and said that the Congress is misleading people by making promises that they never fulfill.

Referring to Sonia Gandhi as 'Madam', Modi recalled her speech in at a rally in Kondagaon, where she had said that the Congress does not just talk, but also delivers on its promises.

"Madam said Congress party doesn't just talk but works. Madam is right; the Congress doesn't speak about its scams at all. Without even speaking they do so much, all scams happen so quietly," he said while addressing a rally here today.

"Congress promised to reduce inflation in 100 days, but they didn't fulfill their promise. They only misled you, and now Madam says that they deliver promises," he added.

He also targetted 'Shehzada' Rahul Gandhi, and said that people who pay Rs. 200 for a bottle of water, talk about living on Rs.26 a day.

"If there are five people in your family, can you feed yourselves in Rs. 26 a day? The people in Delhi say that... the shehzada who pays Rs.100-200 for a bottle of water in 5-star hotels says that," he said.

He questioned what the Congress has done for the people of Chhattisgarh.

"It's been more than 60 years of Congress rule, what have you gained from it? They got power, votes, but what did you get? People of Gujarat made their state 'Congress-free', now they are getting rid of poverty and corruption also," he said while addressing his second rally here today.

Raman Singh cured Chhattisgarh of its sickness, developed the state, and he has done a remarkable job," he added.

Sonia Gandhi, had earlier in the day, addressed a rally in Kondagaon, where she held the BJP responsible for poverty in the state, and asked what the saffron outfit has done to improve the law and order situation.

The BJP ruled Chhattisgarh would be the first state to go to polls, in two phases -on November 11 and 19.

Elections to State Assembly in Madhya Pradesh would be held on November 25. Elections to State Assembly in Rajasthan would be held on December 1, while elections to State Assemblies in Delhi and Mizoram would be held on December 4. (ANI)
