Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 3 (IANS) Experts from around the world will discuss developments in nitric oxide (NO) biology at a two-day symposium organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) here.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the "Legacy of Nitric Oxide Discovery: Impact on Disease Biology" international conference Tuesday.
Prof Ferid Murad, Nobel Prize winner for Physiology or Medicine in 1998, will be the guest of honour at the inaugural ceremony and will deliver the keynote address and a public lecture.
"Nitric Oxide research does not have a very long history. The objective of the symposium is to review the research that has been done in this area so far, strengthen current activities and generate ideas for future research. It's going to be a great platform for researchers to gain and share knowledge," said RGCB director M. Radhakrishna Pillai.
Others who will attend include Jon Lundberg (Karolinska Institute, Sweden), Amrita Ahluwalia (University of London, Britain), David A. Wink, (National Cancer Institute, Bethesda Maryland, US), Vasily A. Yakovlev, (Virginia Commonwealth University, US), Massimo Delledonne (University of Verona, Italy) and Pradeep Kachroo (University of Kentucky, US).
Poster presentations will be held on both the days.
