'Killer bullet ants' posing major danger to England team in Rio World Cup

London , Sun, 27 Oct 2013 ANI

London, Oct. 27 (ANI): The players of the England national football team will reportedly face a new opponent in form of the dangerous bullet ant of Brazil during the 2014 Rio World Cup.

The bullet ant, common in Brazil, which paralyses its victims' legs, got its name because the agony of its bite feels like being shot.

Justin Schmidt, ant expert, said that if the bullet ant bits, one's muscles become incredibly weak, body convulses, lips swell and eyelids droop.

Expert Justin Schmidt, who experienced its bite, said that the bite makes one want to lie down and die.

According to the Daily Star, the FA is working with tropical disease specialists to combat the risk of squad members being bitten.

Brazil presents a number of risks to the usually-pampered players, including worries about drinking water, high temperatures, disease and dangerous creatures.

Fears of bullet ant bites will rise if England are drawn to play at the Amazonia Arena, built in the middle of the rainforest, the report added. (ANI)
