Jhansi, Oct. 25 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party President Rajnath Singh on Friday alleged that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is marketing poverty and playing with the emotions of the Indian public at his political rallies in the lead-up to the 2014 general elections.
"Congress cheating you. Rahul Gandhi is marketing poverty....The Congress has given birth to poverty and unemployment. They are trying to cheat you. Rahul Gandhi is trying to play with your emotions by bringing up the assassinations of his grandmother and father," Singh said here at a rally today.
Rajnath Singh was confident about a BJP victory in 2014, and assured the people in Uttar Pradesh that when their prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi assumes the top office of the country, he will change the face of India.
"When you (Modi) become Prime Minister, the face and fate of India will change," he said.
BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and senior party member Uma Bharti were also present at the rally.
In a rally in Indore, Gandhi on Thursday said his party's 'dharma' was to empower the urban and rural poor of the country.
"According to facts, we say that we make more roads than the BJP, we build more airports than the BJP, we make more railway lines than them, but we also follow our dharma-which is, we empower the urban and rural poor," Gandhi said. (ANI)
