Sachin Tendulkar named in Wisden all-time World Test XI

Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar, who will retire from Test cricket after playing the two-match series against West Indies to complete his 200 test matches next month is the only Indian cricketer to make it to the list of Wisden all-time World Test XI.

Wisden, which released itsall-time Test World eleven to mark 150 years of the Cricketers’ Almanack includes Sir Jack Hobbs and William Gilbert Grace as its openers and the teams captain is legendary Sir Donald Bradman. The team also includes ace Australian spinner Shane Warne and former Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram.

Surprisingly, the noted names like Sunil Gavaskar, Adam Gilchrist, Brian Lara, Imran Khan, Muttiah Muralitharan and many others have been excluded from the list.

The Wisden all-time World Test XI team is:

  • W.G. Grace (England)
  • Don Bradman (Australia, skipper)
  • Sachin Tendulkar (India)
  • Viv Richards (West Indies)
  • Garry Sobers (West Indies)
  • Alan Knott (England) (WK)
  • Wasim Akram (Pakistan)
  • Shane Warne (Australia)
  • Malcolm Marshall (West Indies)
  • Sydney Barnes (England)
