Imphal, Oct 22 (ANI): A six-day workshop on 'Fundamentals of Digital Film-making (cinematography)' was recently organised in Manipur with an aim to impart knowledge to youngsters in the field of film industry.
Around 50 trainees participated at the workshop, which was organized by Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC).
They were taught the basic of cinematography including different shots and lighting. The workshop was conducted by the film and documentary maker Bharat Nerkar who is a faculty of Film Television Institute of India (FTII).
"I am very optimistic I know about the Manipur film industry and lots of people are involved in digital making though they have not much knowledge in this field because of their enthusiasm and interest they are making a good efforts to make films but the only problem is that they should get expo to the world cinema," said Nerkar.
Such workshop is a good opportunity for the youngster as there is no good institute in Manipur. Manipur has produced a number of films and documentaries and also received many national and international awards. Even though the state has produced some award winning documentaries, filmmaking is still in its nascent stage.
"I want to become a cinematographer and I think this is a good platform for me to mould and re-shape my ideas. It really helps me to know more about cinematography," said Roselin Thokchom, a participant.
"The reason behind the on going of this workshop is to impart the knowledge of digital cinematography to the young participants of Manipur. As we all know that there is no institute as such so we a called a resource person form FTII and conducting this kind of workshop here," added Tejkeshwore, programme, coordinator.
Several Manipuri films have won national awards in past and the actors and directors have been widely appreciated. (ANI)
