I will try to bring change which India will remember for years: Modi

Gandhinagar , Thu, 17 Oct 2013 ANI

Gandhinagar, Oct. 17 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Thursday said if the party wins the general elections in 2014, he would bring about long lasting change, which the people of the country would remember for years.

"If people give us an opportunity to work for five years, I will try to bring a change for which the people will remember and appreciate me in the coming years," Modi said at his address at the Inclusive Urban Development Summit held here earlier today.

During the summit, Modi also said that the collective interests of the people of the country should be addressed, rather than focus on the individual aspirations, and added that there must be a mechanism to mitigate conflict between the urban and rural population.

"We should address the aspirations of the people of villages and cities. Addressing only the aspirations of the individuals will not suffice. We should address the collective interests," Modi said.

"It is our responsibility to establish a mechanism so that the conflict between the villages and the cities does not take place," he added.

Modi, on Wednesday, enjoyed the support of senior BJP leader L.K. Advani who said that he would be elated to see him become prime minister in 2014.

"I will be elated if Modi becomes the prime minister," Advani said at the inauguration of the Institute of Infrastructure, Research and Management (IITRAM) campus in Ahmedabad.

"I am proud that our government in Gujarat and Narendra Modi are drawing praise not only in India but also abroad," he added. (ANI)
