60's movies revealed as 'most creative' in cinema history

Washington, Tue, 15 Oct 2013 ANI

Washington, October 15 (ANI): A study has found that the films created during the 1960s belong to the most creative era in cinema history.

Physicist Sameet Sreenivasan of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York, has conducted a detailed data analysis of novel and unique elements in films throughout the 20th century, CBS News reported.

Sreenivasan has analyzed the keywords that were used on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) to observe film trends and a novelty score was given based on the number of times any given keyword was used to describe another film.

Films that garnered higher novelty scores featured a word that was rarely used to describe it, whereas films with lower novelty scores had a keyword used to describe a variety of them.

Sreenivasan said that one always hears about how the period from 1929 to 1950 was known as the 'Golden Age of Hollywood' due to big stars, but looking at the novelty scores one will be able to see a downward trend. (ANI)
