Chandrababu Naidu begins indefinite fast for united Andhra in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct. 7 (ANI): Telugu Desam Party ( TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu began his indefinite fast in national capital New Delhi on Monday afternoon in protest against the creation of Telangana, and continued to criticise the Congress Party for a UPA Cabinet decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

"Democracy means whenever there are problems, they have to be discussed and get solutions. The Congress party have forgotten all this. ... The way the government is behaving has led Seemandhra people to lose confidence in them. Today, there is a standstill there," Naidu said.

Before embarking on his indefinite fast, Naidu paid tribute at Rajghat.

Earlier today, Naidu had alleged 'political match-fixing' between the ruling Congress Party and some political parties of Andhra Pradesh.

"It is a political match fixing. In this country, they have to follow some procedure, process they have to follow. The Congress Party didn't follow any procedure or any process," he told media in Hyderabad earlier in the day.

Naidu accused the Congress Party of trying to get some political advantage with this decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

"One side, they are in collusion with the TRS Party, on the other side, they are in collusion with the YSR Congress Party. The Congress Party is responsible (for what is happening in Andhra Pradesh)," he added.

Naidu begins his fast two days after the YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy began his indefinite hunger strike in Hyderabad on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the situation in curfew-bound Andhra Pradesh's Vijayanagaram district is still tense. Rapid Action and additional Para military forces have been deployed to bring back normalcy.

The normal life in 13 districts of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra regions has crippled due to power shutdown. It has badly hit all major services like drinking water supply, medical services and railways.

On October 3, the Union Cabinet had decided to go ahead with the process for the creation of a separate Telangana state carved out from Andhra Pradesh. (ANI)
