Security forces recover arms, ammunitions in Baramullah

Baramullah , Mon, 07 Oct 2013 ANI

Baramullah (Jammu and Kashmir), Oct.7 (ANI): Security forces recovered a huge cache of sophisticated arms and ammunitions from Jammu and Kashmir's Baramullah District on Monday.

The hideout was subversive and big enough to accommodate people.

One disposable rocket launcher, one rifle with four magazines, one pistol and magazine, two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), ammunition, a marked map of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), a khaki police uniform, rucksacks and letterheads of an alleged militant organisation were among the article recovered by the security forces.

Kashmir region has witnessed numerous militant attacks, insurgency, and infiltration attempts from across the border in the last two decades.

Militants have been often attacking security bases in Kashmir since the 1990s, when there was a full-blown insurgency against Indian rule in a region over which India and Pakistan fought two of their three wars.

The Himalayan region is one of the world's most militarised zones, with India deploying more than 1.3 million troops to quell the rebellion that triggered off in 1989. (ANI)
