New Delhi, Oct. 5 (ANI): A confident Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday said the Congress Party would emerge victorious in the upcoming assembly polls with a lot of grit and belief, and lashed out at the opposition for making tall claims and not being able to fulfill them.
"In the present political atmosphere, we are going into elections with a lot of grit and belief; belief that the Congress Party will win," Dikshit said
"People come from all over the country to Delhi because the capital presents opportunity. The opposition is saying a lot of things, but is unable to sustain their claims," she added.
"The AAP keep alleging that we have a corrupt government, we have repeatedly asked them to show us where we are corrupt. Just by them saying that an individual is corrupt, doesn't make the individual guilty of corruption. By making baseless claims and allegations, I believe, is incorrect. If the claim is substantiated with evidence, we will look into it," she added.
Dikshit said Delhi has developed and flourished in the last 15 years, and added that her party will continue to take the state forward on the developmental path.
"You are all witness to the work we have done in Delhi. Whether it is in terms of the infrastructure or for the Commonwealth Games or for the transport services or in terms of educational institutions-Delhi's face has changed, and I do not need to repeat that for you," Dikshit said.
Dikshit, however, said that a lot more needs to be done.
"There are always problems in Delhi. We cannot say that Delhi is rid of all its problems, but we can say that we have progressed closer to achieving those goals," she said.
The Model Code of Conduct has come into force in five states, including Delhi, going in for assembly polls.
Voters in all the five states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh will for the first time have the choice of 'None of the above option' to reject the candidates contesting the election in a constituency.
Chief Election Commissioner V. S. Sampath, who announced the poll schedule yesterday, said except Chhattisgarh, where polls will be held in two phases, all other four states will have single-phase polls.
The elections will be held in Chhattisgarh on 11th and 19th November. While in Madhya Pradesh, the polls will be on 25th November and in Rajasthan on 1st December. The election in Delhi and Mizoram will be held on 4th December.
Counting of votes in all the states will take place on 8th of December. (ANI)
