Agra, Oct.5 (ANI): A group of 64 students from Mizoram has shown a keen interest in learning and writing Hindi, and to acquire perfection in this language, they have admiited themselves to the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan in Agra.

This institution is an autonomous apex organisation run by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, and works for the development of the Hindi language in the country.

Established in the year 1980, it helps students from across the country hone their skills in the language.

Students from the northeastern states, where Hindi isn't widely spoken, come to the institute every year to sharpen their language skills.

Professor Mohan, Director of the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, said: "When they coming here, they are introduced to an atmosphere where they have to use Hindi for carrying out their day-to-day activities. To help them overcome their hesitation and improve their communication skills, we give them a chance through this programme to develop themselves."

Mizo student Lalsan said:Hindi is used everywhere. So, it is necessary to know the language. That is why we have come here to learn Hindi."

The three-week-long programme is aimed at those students and teachers who already know the language, but want to improve their command over it.

The institute also provides food and accommodation to the students for free.

After the course, the students can find employment opportunities in various sectors like banks, teaching and government offices.

The teachers from the institute also visit regional branches to familiarize the students in non-Hindi speaking regions, with the language.

Sushila Thomas, the Head of the Hindi Department, said: "This year, in May, we had gone to Aizawl to their training centre where we taught them Hindi for three weeks. It was a language development camp. We focused on their pronunciation, vocabulary and communication skills." (ANI)
