It seems that the collection of property tax is going to become more difficult for SDMC. Don’t talk about the government and other institutions, even educational institutions like South campus, Jamil Milia Islamia etc has to pay its due property tax to SDMD.
To deal the matter, South Delhi Municipal Corporation's Property Tax Department has decide to took stringent action against M/s Haldiram Marketing Pvt. Ltd. at Mohan Co-operative Industrial Estate and attached its Bank Account. On M/s Haldiram Marketing Pvt. Ltd. had to pay Rs. 54,02,905/- as pending property tax. This action was taken under section 114 of DMC Act, 1957.
Assessor & Collector, B.N. Singh said that earlier we have attached the Bank A/c of DDA, now the Department is targeting big institutions of Govt., Semi, Govt. and Non Govt. We had already send show cause notices to property tax defaulters like HUDCO, South Campus of DU and Jamia Milia Islamia University. South Campus has to pay approximately 2 crore whereas Jamia Milia Islamia University has to pay 2.5 crore as property tax to Municipal Corporation.
He said that in future also Property Tax Department take stringent action against the defaulters to get maximum property tax.
