Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit laid the foundation stone for the 53rd grid sub-station of BYPL at Karol BaghIt would ensure uninterrupted power supply and will take care of any unforeseen eventualities. The sub-station will incorporate the latest distribution technology and stringent benchmarks including state-of-the-art numerical relay for protection.
On the occasion, Dikshit stated that the last few years have witnessed tremendous development in the area resulting in increase in power consumption. She added that the grid is being commissioned over an area of only 13/40 sq. meter.
It would further improve the power supply to important areas in installations like New Delhi Railway Station, hotels in Paharganj, DHIL Super specialty hospital, Jhandewalan Extn., Delhi Jal Board Headquarters, D.B. Gupta Road and all other adjoining localities. It will benefit over two lakh people in the area.
The commissioning of grid became essential due to growing demand in Paharganj and adjoining densely populated areas. Smt. Dikshit further stated that her government has taken all possible steps to ensure 24x7 power supply in the Capital city apart from getting islanding scheme for the Capital city to ensure uninterrupted power supply during grid failure like situation.
Speaking on the occasion, Delhi Power Minister Haroon Yusuf said that electricity plays a very important role in development. Electricity is one such medium that gives all sections of a society, a chance to participate in the development process. The city government headed by Smt. Dikshit has brought a sea-change as availability of power is sufficient and upto some extent surplus.
