Health Minister Dr. A.K. Walia has informed that Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital in East Delhi will be the largest super-specialty hospital in Delhi. The hospital will have state-of-art imaging equipments such PET CT, SPE CT along with high-end MRI and CT Scan.
Dr. Walia directed the officials of the Health Department and PWD to make the hospital fully functional at the earliest. The directions were given during the extensive inspection of the Hospital today along with senior officers of the Health Department, PWD, Director and other senior doctors of the hospital.
He informed that the unique feature (USP) of the hospital will be critical care as more than 20% beds are being reserved for critically ill patients. He said that the present hospitals in Delhi providing critical care are already overloaded and the new hospital will provide much needed relief to the critically ill patients and their families.
While the major focus of the hospital will be on critical care, it will also ensure wellness of the society. It will guide and provide treatment in the field of life-style diseases relating to hypertension, diabetes, obesity, rheumatology, osteo-arithritis etc., said Dr. Walia. With a view to provide holistic treatment, it will have an AYUSH (Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) Department also.
