'Martyred' Lt. Col. Bikramjeet Singh cremated with full military honours at Panchkula

Panchkula, Sept. 27 (ANI): The last rites of Lt. Col. Bikramjeet Singh, who was martyred in the terror attack at Samba in Jammu yesterday, was conducted here today with full military honours.

Army Chief General Bikram Singh and other senior officers of the Western Army Command paid their last respects to the martyred soul.

The body of Lt Col Singh, Second-in-Command, 16 Light Cavalry, was brought back to Chandimandir, Western Command, last evening.

Lt Col Bikramjeet is survived by his wife Navneet Kaur, daughter Ramneet and aged parents Major Paramjit Singh and Luvpreet Kaur.

Before his posting to Jammu and Kashmir a few months back, he was based at Ganganagar.

Three terrorists sneaked across the border into Jammu and Kashmir and killed 10 people, including a Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Army, in two audacious attacks yesterday.

The militants, who were dressed in Army fatigues, first struck a police station in Hiranagar of Kathua district in Jammu at about 6.45 am, killing four cops and two others. They then attacked an Army camp in Samba district and killed four Army men, before being shot dead in a nine-hour-long gun battle. (ANI)
