Survivor of militant attack in Kashmir recounts fear

Hiranagar (Jammu), Sept.27 (ANI): A survivor from Thursday's militant attack in Kashmir recounted his fear of the incident on Friday.

Militants dressed in Indian Army uniforms attacked police and soldiers in Kathua and Samba Districts. In all, 12 persons were killed in the twin terror strikes.

A civilian, Rohit Sharma, who runs a shop near the attacked police station, said that though he escaped the attack, his neighbour was killed.

"They parked the auto rickshaw there. Three people were inside the vehicle. They shot at the driver first and fired three bullets into his body. He died. Then they aimed at us. But I escaped their attack. But the man, who runs a shop next to mine died in the attack. Then, they went to the police station," he said.

Meanwhile, the security was beefed up in areas around the attacked police station in Hiranagar village of Kathua district.

India has faced an insurgency in its part of Muslim-majority Kashmir since 1989 and has long accused Pakistan of supporting the militants fighting Indian rule. (ANI)
