New Delhi, Sept 14 (ANI): Vice President Hamid Ansari presented the 'Nai Duniya Awards for Excellence in Urdu Journalism" to outstanding media persons in Urdu Journalism at a function here yesterday.
The awards instituted by Urdu Weekly Nai Duniya is given every year in different categories.
Addressing the gathering, Ansari called for inclusion of Technology in the promotion of Urdu language among new generation students in schools.
He said that the Urdu language was about to perish but due to efforts of a few scholars it has got a new lease of life.
He mentioned that the Hindi film industry should be given due recognition in the promotion of Urdu language through numerous scripts and songs.
He congratulated all the awardees for doing exemplary work in Urdu language
Daily Siasat, Hyderabad was presented Azmat-e-Sahafat Award for Best Urdu newspaper; Daily Inquilab was presented Waqar-e-Sahafat Award for Best Editorial content; Urdu Rashtriya Sahara was presented Adaab-e-Sahafat Award for Best Reporting; Urdu Times, Mumbai was presented Tazeen-e-Sahafat Award for Best Layout and Design;
Vinod Mehta, Editor, Outlook was presented Qaumi Yakjahti Award for Contribution to National Unity and Integration; Sanjiv Saraf Rekhta was presented Farogh-e-Urdu Award for the Development of Urdu Language.
Late Asghar Ali Engineer was posthumously awarded for Writing for National Integration in Urdu; and Ahmed Saeed Malihabadi was presented Life Time Achievement Award for Contribution to Urdu Journalism. (ANI)
