I'm not getting engaged on my b'day: Ranbir Kapoor

Mumbai,Cinema/Showbiz, Fri, 06 Sep 2013 IANS

Mumbai, Sep 6 (IANS) He is one of Bollywood's most eligible bachelors, but Ranbir Kapoor has dismissed recent rumours that he is getting engaged on his 31st birthday Sep 28. He says marriage is not even on his mind.

"There was a report saying that I am getting engaged on my birthday. There is no truth to that. I would just request to them that whenever a boy proposes to a girl, it is a very important moment for girl's life, so don't spoil my surprise," Ranbir said here Thursday at the launch of the song from his upcoming film "Besharam".

"But definitely I am not getting engaged now for sometime, or getting married. I don't have those plans," he added.

Ranbir's rumoured relationship with actress Katrina Kaif has been widely talked about, especially after photographs of duo holidaying together in Spain, spread online.

But the actor does not want to talk about it.

"I don't want my life to become a reality show. I am not a contestant of 'Bigg Boss' where you are coming to know everything, when I am going to bathroom, when I am in room," Ranbir said.

"If you have the photos, then go ahead and write what you want to. I have no objection to it," he added.

He also said: "I will try my best to protect my personal life as much as I can."

Ranbir rued how an actor's life is always under the scanner.

"When I was new in the industry, I used to talk openly about my relationship. What happens first - your spotlight shifts to personal life rather than work. Today, there is no mystery about actors," said Ranbir, who has earlier been in a relationship with actress Deepika Padukone.

"We are on television, doing ad films, promotions. So before you get bored of me, I would like to protect my life," he added.
