150-strong Taiwan trade team to visit India

New Delhi, Sept.3 (ANI-Business Wire India): To showcase best of Taiwan's products and technologies in IT, telecom, ICT, electronics, automotive components, machinery and molds, a 150-strong Taiwanese delegation will visiting India for three days from September 5 to 7.

Led by Vice Minister of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs Shih-Chao Cho, the trade delegation of Taiwanese manufacturers will showcase their state-of-the-art world class technology and products at a specially organized Trade Exhibition - EMMA Expo being held in Chennai.

C K Tien, Taiwan's Ambassador to India, said: "The Taiwan Trade delegation is visiting India to strengthen and bolster the bilateral trade ties and investment opportunities with India increase trade and promote State's competitive business climate, enhance bilateral trade, explore and expand investment opportunities and foster long-term relationships. provide means for Taiwanese business and industry leaders to increase exports and to develop and expand strategic relationships with key India and Taiwanese organizations."

EMMA Expo now in its 7th edition being held in Chennai from September 5-7, 2013, is in sync with 'I bring Taiwan to India' concept and is specially organized in India with a distinct objective to facilitate / make it more convenient for Indian businessmen and Indian industry to select, experience and choose the products, technologies and partners from hundreds of Taiwanese manufacturers under one roof, that too here itself in India. Thereby, saving them the botheration/without burdening them to travel to Taiwan just for this purpose.

Talking on India's significance to Taiwan, Tien said "India is one of the most important countries in Asia for us. Taiwan deeply values its relationship with India, and recognizes the potential for meaningful and mutual business investment."

"This mission is an important part of cultivating trade and investment opportunities for Taiwan and showcasing their technological strength across industry verticals to companies in India looking for expansion," he added.

In addition to exploring investment and expansion opportunities, the delegation will also focus on promoting Taiwan's tourism and education sector in India.

EMMA Expo, has played a very pivotal role to advance Indo-Taiwan bilateral trade. The 2012 EMMA Expo attracted a record 6,215 visitors. Industrial giants from abroad and locally including TATA, Ford, Bosch, HP India, SIEMENS..etc. all valued the Expo for offering innovative products with great market potential. With the success of last year's Expo Taiwan generated an estimate of USD 10 million in business transactions.

India's exports to Taiwan amounted to Rs 16,470 crore while its imports from Taiwan amounted to Rs 23,607 crore. Tien said that there was enough room for growth as these figures contributes to 1 per cent and 0.89% respectively.

"We are working with the Indian Government for working out an Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA), on the line of free trade agreement (FTA) to pep up the trade volumes and economic cooperation between the two nations," he added. (ANI-Businesswire India)
