Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 2 (IANS) Motor vehicle workers, cutting across party lines, have decided to go on protest against the latest fuel price hike by staying off the roads in Kerala Wednesday.

Consequent to the strike call, only private vehicles will be seen on the state's roads this Wednesday.

Communist Party of India-Marxist legislator and trade union leader Elamaram Kareem told reporters in Kozhikode that all trade unions will take part in the strike.

"All types of public vehicles will keep off the roads Wednesday, to protest the hike in fuel prices," Kareem said.

State-owned Kerala State Road Transport Corporation is likely to take part in the protest.

Transport Minister Aryadan Mohammed said the protest was justified. "But, as a government, we will see what can be done," he said.
