Edinburgh, Aug 31 (ANI): The organisers of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, to be held at Glasgow, have hailed the demand for tickets for the most popular sports at the event, saying that it has already raced ahead of supply.
According to The Scotsman, applications have been coming for the swimming, diving and cycling events since the new ticketing programme was launched on 19 August, while artistic gymnastics, shooting and triathlon are also proving extremely popular.
The report further said that up to a million tickets are available for the Glasgow event, with Glasgow 2014's chief communications officer Gordon Arthur saying that they are 'delighted' by the volume of applications for tickets already received and the high demand that they are seeing across the sports programme.
According to Arthur, the event's ticketing website has been functioning well and processing requests as quickly as possible, keeping waiting to a minimum, adding that a new ticketing guide that they have issued will help ticket applicants to make choices which increase their chances of being able to experience the Games.
In its first update to assist ticket applicants, Glasgow 2014 has offered a guide outlining which sporting events people are most likely to be able to secure tickets for, the report added. (ANI)
