Sydney, Aug 29 (ANI): More technology in cars is leading to more road accidents, it has been revealed.
The drivers of the cars packaged with more electronic devices get distracted due to the interactions they make with the technologies while being behind the wheel, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
According to figures from the Centre for Road Safety, the number of crashes on New South Wales roads in which driver distraction was a factor has doubled in less than a decade.
Mike Regan, from the University of NSW Transport and Road Safety group, said that attention was increasingly being shifted from the road because of the presence of more technologies in cars with which drivers tend to interact.
Regan said that today drivers are bringing more electronic devices into their cars, such as MP3 players, and are also buying new cars embedded with more technology, such as GPS systems. (ANI)
