New Delhi, Aug 25 (IANS) Singer Vasuda Sharma feels that going to different places and meeting new people encourage her to write beautiful compositions and that is exactly why she is looking forward to working in the show "SoundTrek".
The 28-year-old Delhi-born singer, who made her debut as composer with 2010 film "Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu", will be one of the 18 musicians who will travel to various parts of the country and collaborate with local artists on popular songs.
"Travelling to different places inspires me to create my compositions. I love to absorb all that a new place has to offer and let it manifest in my creations," Vasuda, who is gearing up for her debut solo album "Attuned Spirits" release, told IANS.
The singer will be travelling to Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, and collaborate with renowned folk artist Prahlad Tipanya, an expert in Kabir bhajans who has travelled and performed with his troupe in India and abroad.
Talking about her plans, Vasuda said: "I will do live looping and jam with him on my song 'Jaagi jaagi raina'. I am very excited to see how we go about playing the song together incorporating our different musical styles. It will be fun... Looking forward to it."
Besides Vasuda, high profile bands like Midival Punditz, Avial, Parikrama and many more will travel to various destinations like Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Auroville, Shillong, Kolkata, Varanasi, Kalimpong, Srinagar, Orcha and Udaipur. The idea is to mix their music with the local artists' compositions.
For instance Delhi-based artists Qadir Niazi and The Qawwals of the Nizammudin Dargah will tune their music to the beat of composer Ranjit Barot's songs.
The electronica act of Midival Punditz members will fuse with Kutle Khan and the Burra Katha, who are the musical storytellers of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh.
A strong regional flavour will be presented when Kerala-based rock band Avial will work with multi-instrumentalist Kuttan performing on the temple instrument 'Iddaka'.
More local artists like Cotta Choir, Sohan Brass Band, Ali Abbas, Adil and Vasundara, and Bagpipe artists TBC will come forward and work with other mainstream musicians.
Produced by musical club chain blueFROG, "SoundTrek" will go on air Aug 29 on FOX Traveller channel and will see already known songs getting a twist with the addition of local music.
"With 'SoundTrek', we are bringing together the two things Indians are passionate about - music and travel. We have some great jamming sessions in store for the viewers, wherein two distinct artists collaborate to create sheer musical masterpiece... complete with eclectic music, global artists and best Indian destinations," Debarpita Banerjee, vice president - Marketing, FOX International Channels said in a statement.
