Washington, August 21 (ANI): According to a leaked draft of an upcoming U.N. report, scientists are now more convinced that the increase in global temperatures since the 1950s has been led by human activity.
The report further asserts that it is likely that human influence on climate caused more than 50 percent of the observed increase in global average surface temperature from 1951 to 2010, CNN reported.
The report said that there is high confidence that this human influence led to the oceans warming, which melted the snow and ice, and raised global mean sea level and changed some climate extremes in the second half of the 20th century.
The conclusions have come from the upcoming report of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is the fifth in a series of multiyear reports that are seen as a benchmark on the subject.
The panel's last report, in 2007, had concluded that it was 90 percent certain that the rise in temperatures was due to human activity; the new draft has raised that figure to 95 percent.
The panel's report will be released in sections, starting in September, and could get revised. (ANI)
