Mumbai, Aug 21 (IANS) Pakistan will free 338 Indian prisoners including eight juveniles, and they are expected to cross into India from the Wagah-Attari border in Punjab Saturday, an activist said Wednesday.
India-Pakistan peace activist Jatin Desai said the prisoners will be set free from two Karachi jails. They will enter India in eight air-conditioned buses.
Desai said he had received a communication to this effect from Rizwanullah Jamil, representative of the Legal Aid Office in Pakistan.
This follows Pakistan's decision to free 330 Indian fishermen detained in the District Prison at Malir in Karachi and the eight juveniles held at the Youthful Offenders Industrial School in Karachi.
"This is a goodwill gesture announced by the Pakistani foreign minister during the Indian foreign minister's visit," Jamil said.
According to latest statistics, a total of 427 Indian fishermen, three undertrials, one convict and eight minors from India are held in Karachi.
