UPA economic policy 'failures' will pose 'problems' for next regime, says Sharad Yadav

New Delhi , Sat, 17 Aug 2013 ANI

New Delhi, Aug. 17 (ANI): Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav on Saturday criticised the UPA- led Government for its economic policies and predicted that inflation will continue in the country, posing massive problems for the next regime which will take over at the Center in 2014.

"As the value of the rupee falls, prices of petrol and diesel will obviously go up. The country will have to face the brunt of the present policies in place. All the steps taken, on the policy front, by this government have been unsuccessful," Yadav said.

Losing faith in the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) promises that the Central Government has made, Yadav said that it is best to rely on our internal domestic market to pull the country out of the present slump.

"We have nothing but our domestic power-we have our minerals and industry. We should strengthen that. The condition of the economy is going to worsen and they are not going to be able to handle it. It is going to be a problem for the next Government," he added.

Meanwhile, Union Cabinet Minister of Commerce and Industry and Textiles Anand Sharma on Friday lauded the UPA-led Government for attracting massive FDI in its tenure, as compared to the previous NDA Government.

Sharma pointed out the successful economic policies of the UPA tenure, saying that USD 273 billion has come into the country in FDI, under the present government. Under the NDA, he said, FDI in the country amounted to less than USD 30 billion. (ANI)
