Motorola launches 'smart clip' to unlock its Moto X 'touchless' smartphone

Washington , Sat, 17 Aug 2013 ANI

Washington, Aug. 17 (ANI): Motorola has come up with a new technology to help people get rid of the annoying process of inserting pins or passwords to unlock their mobile phones.

The company has launched a small thumb-sized clip, called aptly the 'Skip' which can be tapped to the back of the Moto X phone to unlock the device and it can be worn on the shirt sleeve, shirt hem, belt loop or anywhere it feels comfortable.

Motorola said that the clip consists of three little 'Skip Dots' or stickers which automatically create a 'trusted zone' once the phone is placed on it and unlocks the phone allowing owners to use the phone with voice commands, ABC News reports.

According to the report, the clip uses the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and need to be specifically paired with the Moto X and users can also unpair the device if they happen to lose the Skip.

Although, the clip will be included with all phones that are ordered through Motorola's Moto Maker site but separately it will cost 19.99 dollars. (ANI)
