Oprah apologizes for 'blown out of proportion' Swiss racism incident

Washington , Wed, 14 Aug 2013 ANI

Washington, August 14 (ANI): Oprah Winfrey has reportedly apologized for the speaking to a television reporter during promotion of her new movie, 'The Butler', about the perceived racism she felt when a sales associate at an upscale shop in Zurich declined to let her see a pricey handbag estimated at 40,000 dollars.

As per sources, Winfrey apologized for the incident having been blown out of proportion, the Washington Times reported.

The saleswoman at the shop had denied the 59-year old talk show host's versions of events, saying she never suggested the icon couldn't afford the item.

The associate as well as the shop owner had apologized and now the actress, who is among the richest African-Americans of the 20th century, has said sorry.

Winfrey reportedly earned 77 million dollars in the year that ended in June, Forbes reported. (ANI)
