London, Aug 10 (ANI): Swiss authorities have apologised to Oprah Winfrey for the treatment she endured from a salesperson while shopping in a bag store in Zurich.

The chat show host revealed that an official apology has been issued to her on behalf of the country, the Mirror reported.

A spokeswoman for the Swiss tourism office said they are very sorry for what happened to Winfrey.

They also condemned the incident, saying the shop assistant acted "terribly wrong".

The US talk show host earlier claimed that an assistant refused to attend her in an upmarket handbag shop in Zurich, and she was told that the bags on display were "too expensive" for her.
