Paris, Aug 6 (ANI): Advanced electrical wiring developed for space is being attributed as the reason why some racing divers are now steering sleeker and potentially faster cars in race competitions around the world, including Formula One.
According to the European Space Agency, sophisticated wiring techniques developed for ESA satellites are now used in Formula One cars, improving their performance and weight.
Three years ago, Tekdata decided to take what they had learned in space and use it in autosport, with its business development manager revealing that many of the space solutions were far in advance of the current technology available in the motor sport marketplace, the report said.
For racing cars, wires can more easily be fitted beneath a seat, under the skin or in the bodywork of a car, which means that their aerodynamics are no longer compromised by the placement of the wiring, leading to better performance and lower weight, crucial in racing, the report added. (ANI)
