New Delhi, July 25 (IANS) Laying hands on organic food items is easier, thanks to Navdanya, and its network of organic farmers spread across 17 states of the country. Now, the organisation has become part of the Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Limited (CCIC), falling under the jurisdiction of the textiles ministry.
"We have become part of the foundation that sustains the traditions, aesthetics and culture of our country," a statement released by Navdanya Thursday said.
Navdanya, which means "nine seeds" came into being in 1987 with the seed-saving movement, under the binding force of its founder Vandana Shiva.
The organisation makes available organic products like oil seeds, spices, pulses, tea and sugar.
