Patna, July 24 (IANS) The death of school children who consumed contaminated food in Bihar will be probed from all angles, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said Wednesday.

He told the media here that police will find out why the mid day meal, which investigators discovered contained poisonous substance, was given to the students though they complained of poor taste.

"It is a very sad and a heart wrenching incident," he said, referring to the death nine days ago of more than 20 boys and girls of a government-run school in Saran district.

Commenting on the tragedy for the first time, the chief minister said his government did whatever was possible to save the children. "We believe everything will come to light in the police investigation."

"Whoever is guilty, whoever is responsible, will face the law," Nitish Kumar said.

He also pledged to develop the affected village. "We can't bring back the children who have died but we will do whatever we can for the village."
