New Delhi, July 23 (IANS) A child playing in the rain, another trying to touch the rainbow, and a girl amid skyscrapers wondering where have all the butterflies gone -- these are among the paintings by artist Punita Ranjan on display at an ongoing solo exhibition here.
With no formal training in art, Ranjan hasn't followed any strict rule to put her thoughts on the canvas. But she has brilliantly caught the perfect harmony between the child and nature.
"I paint what I like. I love children and have seen how they are getting away from nature. They prefer to stay indoor and even parents don't allow them to enjoy rain because they fear they(children) will get wet," Ranjan told IANS.
"I have used nature as a metaphor and tried to show a connect between the two. In childhood it is important to explore and be with nature, technology is taking away that joy from us," she added.
The exhibition is on at the Indian Habitat Centre till July 26.
