Listen to Rahul Gandhi's 'mantra' to understand Congress ideology: Rashid Alvi

New Delhi , Mon, 22 Jul 2013 ANI

New Delhi, July 22 (ANI): Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Monday welcomed party vice-president Rahul Gandhi's message to the party cadres at the media conclave, saying it will benefit not only the spokespersons of the outfit but also give the people of the country an opportunity to understand the party's true ideology.

"What Rahulji has taught to the audience, I am sure not only Congress Party spokespersons but even the people of the country will get the benefit out of it," he said.

Addressing a Congress media conclave earlier in the day, Gandhi asked his party men to stand united and speak in a positive note as the 2014 Lok Sabha polls draw closer.

"Let's get talent from states. Let youth and seniors work together," he said.

43-year old Rahul Gandhi, who inaugurated the media conclave being held in the national capital, impressed upon the spokespersons to communicate to the masses the major initiatives taken by the UPA Government at the Centre.

Several Congress veterans, including Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh, will address the key sessions during the two-day programme.

AICC General Secretary and in-charge of Communication Department, Ajay Maken, said the meeting would seek to "build linkages" between the AICC and PCC offices in disseminating the party's viewpoint on various issues.

The Congress Party has called professional trainers to train its leaders in research and dissemination of information on various platforms of conventional and social media.

The media workshop, which is being attended by 200 persons, including five national spokespersons, 36 electronic media panelists and 15 persons each from NSUI and Youth Congress, is expected to give a fillip to the setting up of communications departments in the PCCs on the line of what has been done in the AICC.

Besides the conventional print and electronic media, the focus will also be to increase the presence of Congress state units on social media.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari will address a session on preparedness for electronic media, while Sandeep Dikshit will address a session on research and Deepender Hooda on social media.

A statement from All India Congress Committee (AICC) said the party will also unveil its social platform 'Khidki' for about 200 spokespersons from across the country, encouraging them to use it as a window of opportunity, besides giving them lessons in the do's and don'ts of electronic media.

The programme will conclude with round-table discussions by ten groups organised for spokespersons from states and NSUI and Youth Congress representatives on a host of current topics. (ANI)
