Wimbledon champ Murray's hometown Dunblane set to become tourist hotspot

Edinburgh, Sun, 21 Jul 2013 ANI

Edinburgh, July 21 (ANI): Andy Murray's hometown of Dunblane is fast becoming a tourist hotspot after being indelibly linked to the 1996 school massacre, with the town being singled out by Wanderlust magazine as a 'must-see' destination to celebrate its most famous sporting son.

According to The Scotsman, a leading travel guide is promoting an 'Andy Murray trail' of his home town, Dunblane and Wanderlust even names five 'key sites' to be visited to pay homage to the first British men's Wimbledon tennis champion in 77 years.

The seven places include the Atlantic Wall on Sheriffmuir Road, Leighton Library, a golden postbox on High Street, Queen Victoria's Horseshoe and Doune Castle.

Murray, who was born in Glasgow in 1987, grew up in Dunblane and was just eight when killer Thomas Hamilton stormed into his primary school to shoot dead 16 children and a teacher, before turning a gun on himself, the report said. (ANI)
