New Delhi, July 12 (ANI): Around 500 Tangkhul Naga women residing in Delhi gathered at the Constitution Club to celebrate the first anniversary of "Tangkhul Shanao Long Delhi."
The event was organised under the theme "Nurturing Truth and Dignity: walk with us".
The main objective of "Tangkhul Shanao Long" is to safeguard the rights, modesty and dignity of women, and to promote peace, development and prosperity.
During the event, young boys and girls dressed in traditional attire performed songs, and the seed sowing folk dance.
Felecita Shongva, the chairperson of TSLD, said: "The main thing is to celebrate the completion of a year and also to celebrate our success. And, while celebrating, we would also like to promote peace and unity, and also, we would like to revive our culture.
Rewben Mashangva, a Tangkhul Naga folk singer, enthralled the audience with his songs while sending out a message of peace and unity.
Other bands, like "Minutes of Decay", also performed at the event.
"I am very happy to perform in a mainland though I came from small village this is my great opportunity to play here in a big city like Delhi. So, it is a good platform for me and I am glad that people now recognize me," said Mashangva.
Vocalist Worshon Muivah said: "We do have such opportunity at home so it is a good platform for us to showcase our talent."
Young boys and girls also walked down the ramp displaying a collection of traditional designs. The event provided a platform for upcoming Naga designers and models to showcase their talent.
Model and fashion designer Shimray said: "Lots of Northeast youth are coming up in the field of design and fashion, as we north east youth are concerned about our culture and traditional dress. Our traditions are unique, and hopefully, someday, we will come up and reach the national level."
Colorful traditional handlooms and handicrafts of Tangkhul community were also displayed on the occasion. (ANI)
