Washington, July 3 (ANI): Throwing a stick for pets to fetch put the animals' lives in danger and should be stopped, vets have warned.
The Australian Veterinary Association this week condemned stick fetching, saying it could cause "horrific injuries" and other damage including choking, infection and internal bleeding.
Australian Veterinary Association president Dr David Neck said most owners were unaware of the damage that could be caused by sharp objects piercing a dog's mouth, throat and internal organs, the Daily Telegraph reported.
University of Sydney Veterinary Science Professor Paul McGreevy said fetching was important to a dog's well-being but owners should use safer alternatives such as rubber bones, frisbees, balls or rope. (ANI)
